DR M.L. SEHGAL & THE SEHGAL METHOD
“A Revolutionary Mind-based Approach in Homoeopathy.”
ABOUT DR M.L. SEHGAL
Dr. M.L. Sehgal was a visionary Indian homoeopath who revolutionized the practice of homoeopathy by introducing a unique approach now known as the SEHGAL METHOD . Deeply rooted in classical homoeopathic principles, this method focuses predominantly on the mental state of the patient, emphasizing that the mind is the most reliable guide to a curative remedy.
Dr. Sehgal observed that the emotional and psychological responses of individuals, especially under stress or disease or during sickness, provided profound insights into their constitutional state. Building on this observation, he shifted the center of case-taking from physical symptoms to the language of the mind—how patients think, feel, and react in everyday situations. His core belief was that the mental symptoms alone could often point directly to the simillimum (the most suitable remedy), even when physical symptoms were vague or misleading or not notable.
He classified and correlated patient expressions—like feelings of rejection, anger, jealousy, fear, or grief—with specific rubrics in the “Repertory of Mental Symptoms” and associated them with homoeopathic remedies. This innovative thinking allowed practitioners to make faster, clearer remedy selections without extensive reliance on the totality of physical symptoms.
The Sehgal Method gained international recognition for its simplicity, precision, and effectiveness, especially but not only in chronic cases and psychosomatic conditions but in acute conditions like fever, cough &cold also. Dr. Sehgal’s legacy lives on through his writings, particularly the “Rediscovery of Homeopathy” series(ROH SERIES), and the continued work of the SEHGAL SCHOOL OF REVOLUTIONIZED HOMOEOPATHY (SSRH®), which educates homeopaths worldwide in this mind-centered technique.
In essence, Dr. M.L. Sehgal transformed the landscape of homeopathy by elevating the role of the mind, offering practitioners a powerful tool to understand the inner world of their patients and achieve deeper healing.
